I was thinking the other day about articles of clothing and what they say about us. Or for that matter, what they don’t say. Expensive clothes, practical clothes. Clothes we buy because we have no choice but to buy something cheap. And I thought as I thought, why not construct a series of exercises – writing exercises – around the clothes people wear (or don’t). I could start at the top and thing about caps and hats. And then again, I could start at the bottom, and think about the shoes we wear, and what those shoes say about us. A grounding exercise to start off the clothing series.
